Working predominantly in acrylics, Motoko uses her fine sense of color, design and texture to create abstract paintings. To date, her career as a professional artist has evolved through four phases of growth.
Realism: During what she refers to as her “apprenticeship period", Motoko painted in a representational manner.
Abstractions of Nature: Starting in 2005, many of Motoko's early abstract works, such as the “Universe” and “Ocean” focused on translating the elements of nature into abstract form..
Color and Movement: Motoko moved toward a purer form of abstract painting that increasingly expressed her emotions. During this time she began making greater use of blocks of color and clean simple lines.
The Soul of Emotion: Motoko further simplified her compositions by focusing on textures, large shapes and fields of color, and increasingly organic forms. Her works are intended to take people to new emotional places and generate positive energy.
